Why is it said that charging for a long time will not damage the phone?

Many people may have heard such remarks: mobile phones cannot be charged for a long time, and the battery will explode or shorten the battery life if the charging time is too long. In fact, this is an outdated statement long ago, because the lithium-ion batteries used in mobile phones now have multiple protection mechanisms that can prevent the battery from overcharging.

Below we explain these protection mechanisms for everyone:

The first layer is the IC circuit of the charger. When the mobile phone is charging, the IC circuit can judge whether it is full, and it will automatically cut off the power input when it detects that the battery is full. Afterwards, no matter how much time it takes to charge the battery, the charger will no longer supply power to the mobile phone, so that it will not cause overcharge problems, and naturally there will be no danger of explosion.

The charging voltage of the mobile phone battery can be as high as 4.2V, and the error is no more than 1%. There is a reference voltage in the charger of 4.2V. When the battery is charged to this voltage, the IC circuit will be cut off.

The second layer is the power management chip on the mobile phone. Its work is mainly responsible for identifying the power supply amplitude of the CPU, the corresponding short moment wave appears, and the subsequent circuit is driven to output power. The power management chip is responsible for the transformation, distribution, detection and other power management of electric energy in the electronic equipment system.

He is like the power commander on the phone. If the mobile phone is used while charging, the power management chip can control the current, part of which is used for battery charging, and the other part is for mobile phone use. As long as it is not a copycat mobile phone, it can well reduce the interference of the slight AC clutter.

The third layer is the battery protection board. When the above-mentioned double insurance cannot protect the battery, the protection board comes in handy. Overcharge, overdischarge, overcurrent, short circuit? All are handed over to the protection board to solve.
