There are three main types of battery pack packaging for power lithium batteries: cylindrical, square and soft packs. Soft battery has become an important choice of power battery technology route due to its advantages of good safety performance, light weight, large capacity and small internal resistance. At present, domestic soft-packed batteries have surpassed cylindrical batteries and become the second largest power battery type after square batteries. In the future, soft pack batteries may become the mainstream batteries for new energy passenger vehicles.

The first echelon of global soft pack power lithium battery technology is mainly Japanese and Korean companies, and there are also a number of domestic production companies. Foreign companies producing soft pack power batteries include LG and AESC, and domestic companies Yiwei Lithium Energy, Penghui Energy, Tianjin, Tianjin Jiewei, Beijing Guoneng, Carnegie New Energy, Funeng Technology, etc.

LG Chem: A leading global soft pack company, the positive electrode mainly takes the ternary route. The cathode material of LG Chemical Power Battery is mainly ternary NCM, which is designed with laminated soft pack. According to LG Chemical's power battery capacity planning, in 2016 the company's power battery capacity will meet the global demand for 50,000 electric vehicles, and by 2020 the company's capacity will meet the demand for 200,000 electric vehicles. The sales volume of LG Chemical's power batteries has grown steadily. It is expected that LG Chemicals' shipments will increase substantially this year to around 4GWh.

AESC: The power battery adopts a soft pack design, and the cathode material takes the route of lithium manganate. The current mainstream route in the international market is the development of high-nickel ternary materials. Although the price of lithium manganate is relatively low, it has low energy density and poor cycle performance. Compared with lithium iron phosphate and ternary materials, it has no outstanding advantages. It is because the selection of lithium manganate for the positive electrode route causes AESC to be eliminated by the market.

National Energy Battery: The production capacity will reach 11GWh by the end of this year. It is expected that the production capacity will reach 25GWh in 2020. The energy density of the battery pack produced by the National Energy Battery has reached 125wh / kg in 2016, and the energy density of the ternary monomer mass production has reached 200wh / kg. It is estimated that by the end of 2017, the cell density of National Energy Lithium Iron Phosphate Battery will be 180Wh / kg, and the ternary product will exceed 240Wh / kg.

Funeng Technology: The existing production capacity is 2.5GWh, and the expansion of the second phase of the project will be fully released by the end of 2017, when the total production capacity will reach 5GWh. The third-phase 10GWh project is also advancing rapidly, and it is expected to be gradually put into production in 2018. The company began mass production of 220Wh / Kg power batteries from the end of 2014, and will launch 240Wh / Kg new products by the end of 2017.

Carnegie New Energy: The current production capacity is 0.78GWh, of which the Shanghai base production capacity is 0.24GWh and the base production capacity is 0.54GWh. At present, each production base is expanding. After the planned expansion, the capacity of the Shanghai base can reach 0.45GWh, the capacity of the Nanchang base can reach 0.74GWh, the capacity of the Liuzhou base can reach 2GWh, and the capacity planning of the Nanjing base can reach 4GWh in the first phase and the second 6GWh is expected to reach 10GWh production capacity by the end of 18 years. Mainly focusing on ternary soft pack passenger car power batteries, the current mass production of NCM111 system 26Ah ternary soft pack battery specific energy reaches 170Wh / kg, 523 system 36Ah ternary soft pack battery specific energy can reach 220Wh / kg, while being accelerated Promote the 811 system battery with a specific energy of 250Wh / kg.

Gateway Power: Focus on the production of polymer lithium-ion batteries, using the soft pack lamination process, the material system includes ternary and lithium titanate. The company has already mass-produced ternary soft-pack battery cells with a specific energy of 210WH / Kg. On the basis of improving battery safety, it is expected that the energy density of the company's soft-pack battery cells will reach 300WH / Kg in 2020, and 220WH / Kg after Pack grouping; the energy density of lithium titanate battery cells will exceed 110WH / Kg. In terms of production capacity, Jiewei Power's planned production capacity in 2017 is 1.6GWh, which is currently in full production and product supply is in short supply. Therefore, the company will gradually increase capacity on the basis of market predictions, and it is expected to increase to 10GWh in 2020.

Great Power Energy: Great Power Energy's soft-pack power cell production line has an existing production capacity of 1GWh and a daily output of 10,000 units. It will grow steadily as the market expands in the future.


Tianjin shares: Foshan 4Gwh new capacity production base has started construction, mainly soft battery, the first phase of the project will be put into production at the end of the year, the production capacity will reach 2GWh, mainly ternary 32Ah batteries, its single energy density can reach 210Wh / Kg.

Yiwei Lithium Energy: Added 1.0GWh soft pack ternary battery in the first quarter.
